When L contacted us about doing her wedding she already had a good start on what she wanted. She had her venue, a beautiful estate with pristine manicured gardens and fabulous outdoor spaces. She knew she wanted a November wedding with traditional fall colors and flowers. And she had her dress! O the beautiful dress and lets not forget about the shoes! To die for! This is where our inspiration began…..
As we started working with L & S it became very clear just how much our happy couple’s family and friends meant to them. They wanted this to not only be a celebration of their marriage but also a celebration of their family and friend’s love and support. L kept saying “I want it personal and kid friendly!” Lucky for her we know a little something about personalization and we definitely know kids! (The youngest member of our staff is 17 months old) 🙂 To entertain all of the kiddos we made goody bags filled with coloring books and colors along with bubbles, balls, Slinky’s and other kid approved items. They were so excited to each have their own bag of goodies and little bag of chocolate kisses!
As we began coming up with ways to make their wedding as personal as could be we kept going back the their invitations.
L absolutely loved her invitations that we did and especially her new monogram. We drew form that and incorporated it in so many beautiful and subtle ways. We made custom chair sashes, pillows for the lounge area, venue flags, favor tags and water bottle labels. We also created a custom monogrammed wrap for the unity candle along with a jeweled cake topper. All of these things helped create that very personal feel that they wanted.
After many months of planning, creating and monogramming THE BIG DAY finally arrived! Guest were greeted with beautiful gas lanterns as they made their way to the outdoor ceremony and reception. Our bride wanted something different for a sign in book so we came up with the idea of having guest use an engraving pen and sign a pewter tray on their arrival. The tray is now displayed in their home and used on Holidays and special occasions.
The linens and flowers that we used all incorporated the outdoor venue and beautiful fall colors. Rich brown, orange and green satin table cloths and chair covers created a beautiful blanket for all of the fall flowers. The vivid purple, oranges and greens in mercury glass containers all added wonderful pops of color.
The flowers were one of L’s favorite parts of her wedding. She loves fall so we really wanted her to get that true fall feeling all the way down here in Southeast Texas. That along with the fire in the outdoor fireplace, twinkling candles and the twilight service really created a magical moment. We also drew inspiration from these colors and a shawl that the bride had and came up with one of the most unique and stunning cakes that we have ever seen. Dena with Dena’s Sweetly Unique Cakes took our design and truly created a masterpiece.
At the reception the guest were treated to not only a scrumptious buffet of some of the Bride and Groom’s favorite foods but also a dessert bar of specialty treats that we created. We had a chocolate fountain with fresh fruit, pretzels and cookies for dipping, along with rum balls (the groom’s favorite) peanut butter balls (the bride’s favorite), mini pecan pies and fruit pies. This was to help lend to the kid friendliness of the event but I think the adults enjoyed it more than the kids did!
And as the Bride and Groom danced their first dance as husband and wife their guest toasted to them with chocolate rimmed champagne glasses filled with their choice of bubbly or sparkling cider.
This was one of the most fun and personal weddings that we have ever done. Our Bride and Groom were truly amazing to work with and they were completely willing to go out on a limb to create that personal wedding they always dreamed of. Thank you L & S for letting us share in your special day and trusting us with everything from your invitations, monogramming and linens to the flowers and food. Best wishes as you embark on you new life together.
A special thanks to Terry Haley with Memories in Light Photography for these wonderful images.
