Happy Friday everyone! I know I have been promising pictures of The Boss’s Mary Poppins Birthday Party for a few weeks now and the wait is up! We had so much fun designing the party and all of the yummy sweets to go with it! Mary Poppins is one of her favorite movies, well, anything with singing and dancing has her hooked! This party was completely different from her past Halloween inspired parties and she absolutely loved it. You can take a peek at her first and second birthday parties here and here in case you have forgotten!
Like most of our events we start with the invitations! They are a great way to set the tone for the event and gives you plenty of creative direction. We designed the invitation to be whimsical and fun with as many Mary Poppins sayings as we could fit onto it.
Upon arrival the guest were greeted with a authentic Mary Poppins umbrella and some Supercalifragilistic pictures of the birthday girl throughout the year. They were also asked to sign a Mary Poppins children’s book. This is a tradition I started at her first birthday party and she loves going back and reading her “birthday books” and remembering who all came out to share in her special day!
We had several guest tables set up for the parents to relax at while the kiddos ran around and played. For these we used alternating pink, purple and turquoise table cloths with burlap runners down the middle. The centerpieces were silver tea sets filled with an abundance of fresh flowers from hydrangea to yellow roses! They looked fresh picked from an English garden. We also had more pictures of the birthday girl on the tables along with vintage Mary Poppins books that I have been collecting for this special day!
Each place setting was also set with a chalkboard favor for the little ones to take home and make their very own chalk drawings. We also has stations set up to decorate umbrellas and kites and little favor bags at the sweets table for them to take home some goodies! You’re welcome parents 🙂 A bunch of sweet kiddos, a ton of sugar and kites and umbrellas make for a very entertaining afternoon!
Speaking of sugar, here we go!
We had an abundance of it! From a candy cart complete with a carousel horse hand painted by Gami or as you know her, Kathy.
To candied apples and trifle made my the birthday girl herself! She loves layering the mason jars with the colorful cake and pudding. We then topped them with burlap squares and finished them off with whimsical ribbon and hand painted wooden spoons.
We didn’t just stop there! We had gourmet cupcakes made by Whosie Cakes and topped them off with adorable Mary Poppins fondant toppers supplied by Cakes and Kids. We also had some of our families favorite desserts, petit fours and peanut butter truffles!
Don’t worry, we did have a few other snacks to balance out all of the sugar! The mini ham and cheese sliders and popcorn cones were very popular!
To wash it all down with we had Mary’s delicious punch and water with custom supercalifragilistic labels wishing The Boss a Happy 3rd Birthday!
It was such a great day and we so enjoyed spending it with our closest family and friends! The birthday girl had a blast and is still talking about her Mary Poppins Party! Thank you all for making her day so special. I can’t belive my baby girl is 3! I also can’t believe that the newest addition to our family will be here in just a couple of weeks! So on that note, if our post are sporadic and brief for the next little while you know why! We will be spending lots of time bonding with the newest little and enjoying all of our family and friends in for the holidays!
I will leave you with some cute pictures of little miss on her special day. Have a great weekend!
